I started this blog as a student at William Jessup University, where I majored in Public Policy with a concentration in Government and Politics and a minor in Bible & Theology. I posted with youthful exuberance during college, but without much perspective or wisdom.
Since then, I went on to graduate from McGeorge School of Law and currently work as an attorney in California, where I live with my wife and two boys.
A lot has changed since I started this blog, and I went several years without posting anything as I soured on politics and government in the wake of the 2016 and subsequent election cycles. However, with the passage of time, I've found that my passion for this nation has not died out even if it is tempered with some caution. I've restarted posting in recent months primarily because the process of writing has helped me unpack my own thoughts and ponderings on politics, faith, and conservative values. And I would ask you to give me grace to unpack these things, knowing full well I may err at times in my conclusions.
This blog was named after the closing words of the Declaration of Independence which read:
"We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."
